Transcribe AIPrivacy Policy
Last updated: September 25, 2026. This policy covers the Android app “Voice Recorder & Transcribe AI” (package com.theyourlist.transcribeai), published by TheYourList (“we”).
1. Your recordings stay on your phone
Recording, speech recognition (transcription), speaker labels, noise removal (Studio Clean), AI summaries, chapters and “Ask your recording” all run on your device. We never receive, upload, store or share your audio, transcripts, summaries, questions, titles or speaker names. We have no servers that process them. Cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are disabled for this data. Vault recordings are additionally encrypted (AES-256-GCM) with a key protected by the Android Keystore and unlocked with your fingerprint or screen lock.
2. Permissions
- Microphone — to record audio when you start a recording (including from the widget or Quick Settings tile). A persistent notification is shown while recording.
- Notifications — to show recording controls and download progress.
- Biometrics — to unlock the Vault (handled by Android; we never see your fingerprint).
- Internet — for ads, analytics, purchases and one-time downloads of AI models. Audio and text are never sent over the internet.
3. Model downloads
Some optional AI models (for example the AI engine used for summaries, the Accurate model, speaker labels and Studio Clean) are downloaded once from Hugging Face or GitHub. These downloads only fetch model files; nothing about you or your recordings is sent. The providers see a standard web request (such as your IP address) under their own policies.
4. Analytics and crash reports (Google Firebase)
With your consent where required, we use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. We only log anonymous usage events such as “recording stopped (1–5 minutes)”, “transcription completed (Fast, Vietnamese)”, “paywall viewed” or “purchase completed”, plus the device model, OS version, app version, approximate region and an app-instance identifier. Crash reports contain the error type and stack trace only. We never log recording content, transcript text, summaries, questions, titles or speaker names, and the app enforces this with an allow-list of event parameters. Firebase Remote Config is used to configure paywall and ad settings.
5. Advertising (Unity Ads)
The free version shows ads from Unity Ads (banner, interstitial and optional rewarded ads). Unity may collect the advertising ID, device and usage information to serve and measure ads. In the EEA, UK, Switzerland and the US you can accept or reject personalised ads in the app (onboarding or Settings → Privacy choices); if you reject, Unity serves non-personalised ads. Ads are never shown while recording, during playback, in onboarding, on the paywall or in the Vault. Pro users see no ads. See Unity’s privacy policy.
6. Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Google Play. We never receive your payment details; Google tells the app whether Pro is active.
7. Data retention and deletion
Recordings and notes remain on your device until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app. Analytics data is kept by Google for up to 14 months. See how to delete your data.
8. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
9. Your rights
You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Privacy choices, reset your advertising ID in Android settings, and request deletion of analytics data by email. Residents of the EEA/UK and US states have the rights provided by their local laws (access, deletion, opt-out of sale/sharing).
